How can i setup new wifi connection in my linux OS

i am using linux first time i want to connect it with my wifi modem i have wifi in my pc please help me if possible explain with steps

Well, linux covers alot of territory these days.. Which version/distribution did you install, the distributions are different and the way to connect to wireless varies some between the distros.. Red Hat is one way, Ubuntu another, Suse another and all are Linux!

Check the help pages at the distribution site.. nearly all of them cover wireless use.
