  1. At our house, we sharpen our pocket knives using the edge of a porcelain coffee cup. Porcelain is harder than glass coffee cups. But our favorite is to roll down a car window partway and use that top edge, drawing the knive from hilt to tip a few times holding it a bit sideways, then flipping over and doing the other side of the blade.

  2. Try using the driveway or some kind of concrete surface. Sort of put it on an angle and drag it back and forth. You probably know what I mean. I sharpen my 5-in-one that way.

  3. a sharpening stone is pretty cheap dude, a few bucks at best. If you have a blade shaper along with your kitchen knoives, that will align it. A shaper is a long, maybe a foot and a half, tapered rod with or without ridges that trues kitchen knives.

  4. Old Indian / boyscout trick that works well.....

Take 2 fine, smooth, round stones , hold them together tightly & draw the blade between them (  away from yourself).

    Add a little spit...also free.

  5. Use a stone from outside, use a piece of a broken plate or cup, or a leather belt with oil.
