Question:

How can i sharpen my wedges grooves?

I would like to sharpen the grooves on my wedges as i am losing the amount of spin i used to get when i first got them. I do not want to buy products such as 'groove sharpener'. I would like to be able to sharpen them with everyday tools, so it doesn't cost anything.

Thanks

  1. If you are not into spending money be sure that any alteration of grooves on your clubs meet USGA specifications for width and depth. If not, out you go in sanctioned tournaments.

  2. You could probably use a really thin flat-head screwdriver if you have one.  Just make sure it fits into the groove already.  Then scrape back and forth.  If you aren't playing any USGA events (like myself) then don't worry about conforming.  I bought the Groove Sharpener, but I understand you don't want to spend money.  You could probably use the tip of a knife as well if it is thin enough.  Your only problem with a knife is that it might file down the knife.  You're going to need something stronger than the actual club material do do some good sharpening.

  3. On ebay as well as other sites, you can buy a tool that is specifically made for cleaning and resharpening the grooves. This is a link to a tool on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Golf-Tool-Groove...
