Question:

How can i ship my car from Illinois to Michoacan, Mexico?

I am going back to mexico for a couple of months and i already know its hard to get around if you dont have a car specially in the small town and i want to take my car so i have my own transportation; i want to know if anyone could help me out, i dont want to pay too much, anyone know of any place/company i can get a good price from, to ship my car to mexico? thanks for the help. appreciate it! : )

  1. because you have to sign papers at the border as the owner, i'm not sure that it'll be possible. maybe charlie knows more about this. why don't you just drive down. it can be done in 3 days, or in 4 if you drive more leisurely. how about finding a friend who wants a little vacation? he/she could fly back to the states and help you drive down. just an idea.


  2. now the real answer....

    You'll have to drive it yourself, at the border, you have to sign papers and leave the title there. They can give you a permit of up to 90 days, and then come back.

    you cannot: sell the car in mexico or use it for industrial or commercial transportation.

    Its not expensive at all, but you have to drive it, or at least be in the car or lend it only to family members... so you cannot ship it.

  3. It will cost you a FORTUNE!  You do not really need it.  Most towns, even small ones have good bus service and taxis.  Taxis in Mexico are cheap and everyone uses them. Would be MUCH better to leave your car at home.
