I have the grumpiest rabbit ever and he/she is getting worse, My rabbit used to allow me to pick it up and move from hutch to run etc, but now will NOT let me pick him up and growls/ bites/ scratches/ scrambles, does this change in behaviour have anything to do with reaching sexual maturity? I have tried to s*x my rabbit as I would like to give him a friend to play with as I've heard that having a pal will cheer them up, but as he/she won't let me pick him up I cant. Please help!! Thanks.

  1. As  someone said above it sounds like a doe(female rabbit) as they can be VERY grumpy!! But bucks(male rabbits) can be nasty(not always) Socialising you bunny won't help, really the only option i am afraid is to have him/her neutered then you will know the s*x & it should make your bunny sweet again. Unless they are breeding rabbits neutering IS the best idea. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful! Good-luck.x*x

  2. sounds like a doe to me...

they do this when they reach there sexual maturity, all my bucks have never been moody...

so in my experience it prob is a doe

  3. *giggles* well that would be an interesting twist in things... If you accidently mistook your female rabbit for a male. That would explain a bit. I mean... if you put a moody female with another moody female it will just make both of them worse (that also applies to just about every other species including humans... and this isn't sexist comment as it happens with males as well... In fact it may happen more often with males >.>). I'd suggest a bunny spa to take away some of the stress... >.> do bunny spas exist? Not sure. AAAAAAAAAAANYWAY! In all seriousness, rabbits are very social creatures and enjoy the company of another rabbit. I have heard of rabbits that actually die from sorrow when their mates pass away. The only thing that I could really suggest is that you keep trying with your bunny. Rabbits by nature are pretty jumpy (no pun intended) atleast that is my own personal observation. You should find out FOR SURE if your rabbit is male or female. I mean... i'd be grumpy too if someone called me a girl when I'm actually a guy >.< Which has actually happened before but the person that called me a girl was just a bitter foolish person and did it on purpose. Anyway, I'm sure like a moody teen your bunny is just coming of age. *teary eyed* they grow up so fast.
