How can i sperate the sound from the video when i video tape things?

i want to have a person talking in the background of a video i recorded but i don't know how to get the sound frolm one vidoe into another video.

Drop the video down into the audio track in your video editing software using the movie maker if you have xp and save it to your computer then it will be saved as a wave file....the guy above me doesn't know what he's talking about I have done this many times over. as a matter of fact thats how I get some of my songs. I down load videos from youtube and drop it down into the audio track all the time using windows movie maker .. That is after I converted the video to a WVM ...

You need video editing software that allows you to add audio lines and mute or turn down your clips audio at the points where you need to do so.

Windows movie maker allows you to add a voice over but does not give you the ability to make the mix look like a 'wave', a mix of original and voice over.  For about $100 you can get good video editing software that allow you to turn off or on any part of any audio track you want
