  1. well im 15 and i have been racing for 3 years wont you get started in a pure stock it should cost like 900 bucks for a car race ready then you need a trailor and al the saftey gear pure stocks are cheaper and more convinent for a someone loking to get ibto racing

  2. Go to ur local race track you no those half mile ovals and start from there or if you want a career in drag racing then you should race junior dragsters and you can do that till ur 18

but you need to build ur own car ive looked and it costs abot 5 grand to build one they only go 80-90 mph but its a start

    good luck

  3. Best thing to do is to look into go-karts.  Karting is one of the least expensive forms of racing, and one that uses a pretty broad range of driving skills... and with the limited setup options on karts, you must drive well to be successful.

For all of those reasons, it's an ideal place to start... so drive and drive often as repetition through seat time is the key for developing your skills.  As an aside, start checking out all the reference material you can (Skip Barber's Going Faster is a great book and covers the topic of driving better than most... Carrol Smith's Driving To Win is an excellent read in regards to other aspects of racing, and the Driving Secrets series covers alot of the same ground, but differently enough that I think it worth checking out as well; Hank Watt's autocrossing book is also a good one in terms of covering alot of basic driving techniques).

When you are karting, pay attention to the people that go fast.  Talk to them and ask them about their approach, why they have chosen the line they have if it is dramatically different than yours... and so on.

If you can do well here, other options may naturally present themselves in a year or two (and you'll be in a much better position to look at other series and move up).

  4. Hit the lottery. I found out the hard way years later that no matter how good you are, you have to promote yourself long before someone will look at you. I spent thousands winning, but never got looked at.

  5. Go take a look at iwannagoracing.com. There are many ways to get involved. Go karting is also a good way to learn the basics and have some fun. Whatever path you decide to try, it will require a decent pile of money. Racing is not cheap.
