get and idea for a product/service you want to sell/make then sell. usually its best if it appeals to a wide variety of customers.

if this is a large-scale business,then you have to have an established premise.read the newspapers for vacant premises.i think it is easier if you ring up a housing agent who knows what to do and can help you start your business-look in the newspaper for contact numbers.if you're planning a small-scale business then it's all about negotiation skills-negotiate with a shopowner and rent a small portion of the shop then negotiate how much of your profit would go to the shop eg. 5% or 8%.Then set-up your merchandise.

learn about the concept of a business. What market, who currently plays in it. Also see what are your options - finance, knowledge, people who can help, etc etc. Proper analysis and planning mate. You should also be able to take risks too.

The question isnt how to start a business, its how to maintain it and grow. Anyone can start a business if they have the money, but not everyone can be successful.

You should maybe do something small [even if unrelated] like be a seller on Ebay and sell things or something.
