  1. It is nothing like riding a horse, trust me. The key is to obtain a balance point, once that is accomplished turning is next. Hopefully you can at least stand up on it, so i am going to assume that you can. Once standing, the optimal footing when turning is one foot in front of the other, not both feet in the back like you see some people doing.

Also, when turning you simply cannot just turn the bars and expect the whole ski to turn. The ski has a flat bottom and this will cause the ski to spin out. You need to roll or lean the ski in proportion with your speed and how much you are attempting to turn. Too much will cause you to rill over, too little will cause you to spin out. You will eventually find the happy medium with practice.

When learning i recommend trying a few turns on your knees to understand what i am talking about. Im not talking 5mph, im talking 15 or 20mph so that the ski is actually on a plane. Once you understand then stand up and get to it!

Remember knees slightly bent, arms slightly bent, lean in and turn at the same time. If you feel yourself start to go over, just lean and turn the opposite way while blasting the throttle, this should counteract and possible keep you from falling over

  2. keep trying you will get the hang of it
