How can i stop 5 cats pooping on my new carpet ?

I have five good healthy cats.

But they all seem to do the same thing POO ON THE CARPET !

Every day when i come home from work i see a great big pile of ....

how can i stop them from doing this annoying discusting mess????!!!

Some cats dont like to share litter boxes, get a few more litter boxes and put them i different areas of the house if you can, if not side by side should be ok, make sure the litter boxes are cleaned regularly.  I use the cat pan liners and small amount of liter then just empty every two days bag and all.

   It may be just one cat that's doing this.  

Another idea is to put the cats in a crate with their litter box.  I have had to do that with a cat before to break him of the habit.  the crate was just big enough for him and the litter box.

Cats are strange, some cats won't go anywhere other than their litter box EVER  and some want it cleaned out as soon as they use it.

Cats know to use the litter box but don't expect them to just know where it is if you have one and don't show it to them... if you don't then you might want to invest in one of those quick like! Cats aren't like dogs and really don't have to be trained other than no and good job! But you also have to get the litter ready before you let them go every where else!

As for your house get a carpet steamer and some really good carpet cleaner your going to need to remove the smell and the pee!

Litter needs to be changed on a regular bases and you may want two in your house so more than one cat can go if needed!

Thats weird all my cats were potty trained when we first got them.Well you should put their cat litter box there or show them wheer the cat litter box is.If you see them pooping or peeing there spray them with the spray bottle and show them their cat litter box right after.Oh i know a reason they might be pooping on the carpet,if you dont keep the litter box very clean they'll go somewheer else so make sure you clean your litterbox every day or your going to keep on seeing a present on your carpet.Also make sure you have 3 litterboxes because with five cats you need that many.My grandma has five and she has 3 litter boxes and cleans them dayly and their fine so you should just do that.Good luck =]

I have the answer- "feliway"! Its a cat pheromone diffuser and you just plug  it in and it works WONDERS! my vet told me about it when I was moving and I'm spreading the word. You can but it at pet stores and off the internet. It's used to stop undesirable behavior and I swear by it
