Question:

How can i stop my food ritual?

I have to split like the main part of my meal, (like a hamburger or hotdog) in half, how can i stop doing that>

  1. just look at it like it is already split in half  


  2. Tell yourself before you split next time, that if you split your hamburger, then you will put half of it away to eat at a later time, and do it. Then the next time you are about to eat, you will be less likely to split it if the cost of doing so is to take half of it away! Maybe that can help!

  3. start by eating smaller versions of normal foods x 2 dont split that in half you can comfort yourself by knowing it  is smaller then get the food bigger gradually.also invite a friend over once a week tell them to help ypu and they cant let you cut your food.im glad you wanna stop food rituals lead to eating disorders.

  4. Hmm!! I toss the top half of the bun and eat the burger or dog with a knife and fork rather than a fingerfood that is to be picked up.

    I see nothing wrong with your habit, in fact Chili's has a very large steak knife on the burger plate for cutting the burger in half!!!

    It actually makes it much less messy to eat if cut in half or quarters!!!

  5. I always cut my hamburgers in half.  Why do you need to stop?  that is not so odd.

  6. Why do you want to? It's not hurting you or anyone else. If you really want to though, try having no real main dish, just a bunch of side dishes, or no sides, just 1 or 2 main parts. In other words, change the dynamics of the entire meal.

  8. whats wrong with that? sounds like you are being sensible and not eating until you are full....

    unless you are splitting your meal in half for the heck of it; I do that too sometimes with sandwiches, burgers, and other stuff. Makes me feel like I have more :)

  10. Well it's probably just second nature to you by not, but you could always just think about what you are doing and avoid doing it. It's not a bad thing though.

  13. OMG i do that too!! i dont think theres anything wrong with that food ritual.  its just different from the way most people eat.  but if the ritual bothers you, you can make it a goal for yourself to NOT split your food in half. haha  

  14. Why do you want to stop?  Is it that you eat it differently than others feel you should?  Or is it that you have to eat only half of the meal at a time?

    If it's the latter, there may be a reason you can only eat half, and that is probably best for you.  If the former, then understand we all have our little quirks.  You're allowed to eat it however you want.  Who cares if people like it or not?  If you really want to change it, then it will come with time.  Patiently remind yourself that you want to do it differently before each meal.  Remember that to make something a habit, it takes about 30 days.  Once you have done it continuously, for that long, it will become habit.  Good luck! =)

  15. i did a report on eating disorders and food rituals and  i learned that it is much easier to get over them if u really really want to and u focus.

    try cutting the hamburger in bigger pieces each time until u don't have to cut it at all and eat it normally. dont take bigger sections each day more like each week or other week so u don't overdo things
