How can i stop my gelding from running out on jumps?

he loves to jump.

hes 12.

just lately hes been running out.

idk what i can do to stop him.

  1. is he refusing them??

    if he is then tighten your rein he is refusing to.

    or is he jumping then taking off??

    keep a shorter rein at the landing.

    i don't fully understand your question


  2. Is he sneaky about it? They usually choose a side they duck out on. If he has a preference, give him a smack with a crop/bat on the opposite side when you start to anticipate the duck and use leg on the ducking side to support.

  3. stick up other jump poles along side the jump to keep him in a straight line heading towards the jump, also is he in any pain this can also make him run out and are you doing anything out of normal are you looking down or feel unsure, he could also feel the difference in you
