How can i stop my name being associated with someone elses so that i dont have to pay anymore of their debt.?

my sons ex girlfreind hasnt been payeing her debts includeing her rent as i was stupid enough to be her garantor for two propertys she has rented and have now had to pay the rent for both properties and to pay for both the properteys to be refurbished back to their original state as she let her children destroy them. and i have payed enough and am trying to dissassociate my name from hers i was told to make a press realise but im not sure how to do it so that all the debters that she has wont come to me any more they will have to get it from her instead. she has now been evicted from the last property and i am awaiting the bill for that to. i was adviced to place a press release so that all her debters know that i wont pay for anymore of her debts but i am unsuare how to do this. does anyone out their know i go about doing this thankyou.

You cannot unring a bell.

You signed as guarantor and are financially responsible for all costs related to the rentals that you signed for. There is no way for you to get out of having to pay if you signed on as a guarantor after the fact.

You agreed to be her guarantor for these tenancy agreements and hence you, quite correctly, are having to pay the rent and repairs that she should have paid. That's what being a guarantor means.

However, unless you have taken out any form of loan, credit card agreement etc jointly with her then you are not liable for any other debts she incurs.

If you want to check your credit record to make sure that her debts are not associated with you then it's probably worth the £2 that it will cost you. You'll find the information on how to do this on the Experian web site at http://www.experian.co.uk/ - note that this is not the same as signing up for their 'free trial' which, if you don't cancel it, will lead to a monthly charge for their service.

Since you put your name to hers you are associated. You should make sure the people you are paying off mark the account Paid As Agreed.

why don't you just ring the debtors and get the advice direct from them there the best people to ask.
