How can i stop some programs from running when i start up the computer?

what are the most important things i need running to get on the net?

i have way to many programs starting.

go control panel then add/remove programs then uninstall the programs that are running when you are starting up your computer.

go to control panel and if you have vista you will find it under uninstall programs

Depends what OS you're running but under XP the easiest option is to run 'msconfig' and disable programs on the startup tab rather than remove them.
