How can i stop wireless baby monitor from interfering with wireless router?

Basically i am using a netgear router DG834G and i have just brought a wireless baby monitor but have found out that it interfers with my wireless router, is there any way i can stop it interferring with the router?

  1. I have checked for common frequencies that devices use (see link below). According to this website a Baby Monitor uses 49.3~49.97Mhz whereas 802.11b wi-fi uses 2412Mhz+.

    A baby monitor is more likely to interfere with a cordless telephone (as they use the same band) but shouldn't affect wi-fi.

    The only possible explanation could be that they are too close together, try putting them at opposite ends of the room.


  2. You'd have to buy one that uses a different frequency.  That or you could chance what frequency your baby monitor uses, but I doubt it has that option.

  3. Go into the interface of the router and change the channel to 1 or 11.  If these do not work, all I can say is there is an alternative to wireless.  Check this out:
