hi people am going to the pool for swimming with my friends i dont know how to swim so i need some basics just to keep up with them

  1. very easy....dnt b scared....just free ur body and learn how to control and balance ur body....learn how to flort first...take a swimming board and start to flort...and learn how to breath....and then lean the styles....its very easy....


  2. umm make sure its a placewith a lifeguard and just stay close to the edge of the pool and in the shallow section remember that if you start to sink fill your mouth up with water and roll into a ball and you'll float to the surface, and just ask your friends to help

Everyone can float on their back quite easily if they breathe and keep their chest inflated and don't panic.  You just lie back, and if you are within your depth you get your feet back on the bottom by a natural backward swoop of your arms.  You skull a bit with your feet and hands to just keep yourself afloat and move a bit, and then if you really want to impress people try the overarm backstroke.  I'm a really c**p swimmer but have covered many lengths in local swimming baths by this method.  Learning to breathe out under water too is valuable if you do find yourself inadvertently submerged, you blow out through your nose and mouth and breathe in through your mouth when you come up, you can practise this in the wash basin at home.  Having mastered these two things a bit of doggy paddle should come naturally. But, when it comes down to it, it is probably better to admit to your friends that you haven't learned to swim yet and they may be surprisingly willing to help you, by a better method than mine!
