There are programs that take an image copy of the disk.  You can write to external hard drive, cds, dvds, but I recommend external hard drive for reliability.

I use Acronis True Image 11 Home because it can run standalone (liinux system on cd).  There are several products that you install and run from an active Windows system.

If you were searching, google clone hard drive.  You don't have to make a clone, you can make an image backup, but you'll find available products looking for something to clone a disk.
