  1. My daughter lives in N C.They had bats in the third floor attic.Lots and lots. They are protected in N C so they called the professionals but it had to be done before June. They got rid of them but the attic smells terrible. It is their f***s and urine. Now they have to spray with bleach water to get rid of the smell. If a bat bites you , you don't know it and if they are rabid you are at risk of course.People can think what they want but in the home they are a nuisance. One day ther found one in the toilet, just imaging if you sat down at night on that stool. They will get into your house where you eat, sleep and live.

  2. First, find out where they are getting in at.

Then, at night, after they leave to go eat bugs, close off those places.  If it is through some kind of vent, use some of that metal mesh that looks like screen but has 1/4" holes.

I would suggest you get some bat houses though.  Bats are great for keeping down the mosquito and general bug population.  Hang the bat houses in trees, on the side of a building, anywhere out of your way but accessable to them.

If you want them permanently gone, contact Bat Conservation Society:

They may be willing to move them for you

  3. If you live in the UK you are not allowed to try to get rid of them - they are protected.

We feel fortunate to have a number of them under our tiled roof and enjoy watching them swoop and turn when dusk falls.  They make no mess or noise and take up very little space.

  4. Make sure the bats you have aren't endangered.  Here in AZ we can't touch the Mexican brown-nosed bat.  Call the city and the city will take care of the bats for you.

The bat p**p would make excellent fertilizer for any garden you may have...

  5. Buy a cage and get them in the cage. You could have pet bats that would be so fun
