Question:

How can i take fresh asphalt off a pigeon

it got all its feathers and its legs stuck in the asphalt and it cant get up

  1. Well, try some kind of oil, baby oil, olive oil, cooking oil, maybe even some vaseline? something to loosen up the tar ... Maybe on the feathers you can use some ice till tar gets  hard and it can peel off? BUT DONT try this on their legs!! You can frost bite them! GOOD LUCK!!!  


  2. I think if it were me I would call vet who sees wildlife (free) tell them what happend and they should take care of it or refer you to rehabber in area that can. The only thing I can think of is to bathe it in warm water with dawn dishsoap many times until it comes off. When done with bath keep warm and draft free. Hopefully though there are no burns to deal with. I would go with the vet. Good luck and thanks for caring.  

  3. I would try Dawn diswashing detergent, and some water. Dawn acts as a solvent, the bird would have to be rinsed free of the soap after. You are going to have to gently work it free from the asphalt, there will most likely be no magic to unsticking it.
