it seems like hes not scared of me, just playing stupid. It's a bit annoying. At night, when he's tired, i can stroke him with no problem, but in daytime, he's just fleeing away from my hand. When i moving my hand towards him very slowly, i can push him, but he flees again. And looks like it will never be better than this. He doesn't want to sit on my finger either. Do you think it will be better if i just keep doing what im doing now? (talking to him, and approaching him slowly before he climbs away to a corner of the cage)

I had a budgie before but it was so much easier to tame him, because he didnt flee but bit me.

I don't know the english name of this one, but if you want, try searhcing "Katalin papagaj" in google. So any ideas?

  1. With patience and kindness.

  2. What you have my friend, is a Lineolated Parakeet. I see you acquired yours in Hungry?

These are known to be very playful, curious and overall wonderful birds. It is in fact, one of my dream birds. Here are some sites with more info about these animals.

How long have you had your little spitfire? I just aquired a new budgie, it took me about 4 months to get him to the point of tameness I like. Every morning (less now) I clicker train him. He knows how to wave, turn around and spin around his perch. In addition to teaching mindless tricks (but it's great for the bonding process), you can teach how to step up and accept petting.

Keep in mind that if you push him he will become conditioned to run away. But if you make him WANT you, you are conditioning him to love you. Treats, soft talk and doing what the bird wants you to do(to an extent) are all crowd pleasing. Step 1: Make him like you!

Also, seed rewards for clicker training work much better when the bird is on a pelleted diet, or in the morning, when they await their first meal.

Please keep me updated, and don't forget to look up clicker training birds on youtube!
