  1. The seconds in between thunder and the flash are supposed to be how many miles away the storm is. So 5 seconds would be 5 miles. Not sure how accurate that is but have heard that since I was a kid.


  2. count the seconds until the thunder comes.

    7 Seconds=1mile

  3. the time between the flash and the rumble is 1 second = 1 mile. Allegedly.
