The are of communicating with the dead is a trick called cold reading. People like John Edwards lie to people as he pulls known classic tricks of cold reading.

First he makes general statements until someone speaks up, then he reads facial expressions while shooting out a number of statements. Most of what he says is wrong, but that is forgotten and only the correct statements are listened to.

John Edwards set his show up so that even when he makes a wrong statement, its not him thats wrong, its the person who he is talking to that is wrong.

On the other hand, the Bible says that this practice is strickly forbidden in the eyes of God. Do not try to talk to the dead, they are not meant to be communicating with the living.

There is a reason for the way things are happening, even if you don't see it yet, it will be obvious at some point.
