How can i tell if my garter snake is about to die?

my pet garter snake is old, doesn't want to eat, she lost some weight, and is getting pretty lazy. is it just because she is old? Sick?

Well, how old is she? They usually only live about 6 1/2 years though. If she isn't eating, then take her to the vet. Snakes should eat about once a week. Sometimes they will go two weeks. If she hasn't eaten in two weeks then something is wrong. If she is old and dying, it might be best to euthanize her. She could just be sick though. You should really go to the vet.
