How can i tell if my tilapia fish is spoiling?

i bought and froze some pre-packaged tilapia fish and recently put in refridge to thaw out for a day or two. my refridge is still really cold-freezes regular food! but, i am unsure now if it is ok to cook because there is a dark center from the end. it fades out toward the other end. is this normal?

well if it has a bad oder almost like ammonia smell it bad fish has a very slight smell when fresh

and just a bit of info for you tilapia tastes great but is a bottom feeder which means they eat garbage from ocean floor for example companies that raise striped bass they use karp and tilapia to clean tank because they eat the lets say droppings from the striped bass

Tilapia is a very mild farm raised fish usually white in color with some brown as well.

Because it is such a  mild fish, it is really easy to tell when it has gone bad, as the odor will be a real giveaway.
