  1. Try closing a small piece of paper in the door, about a foot off the ground, when you leave. It would be best if the paper was close to the same color as the door because you will need to be able to hold onto it as you shut the door and leave enough exposed that you can see it when you return home, but an intruder wouldn't notice. If the paper is on the ground, you know someone has opened the door. If it's still in place you know they didn't come or go by that door. Do this with all your doors and make sure the windows are secure, as well.

If your windows are old like mine and the latches don't meet, you can buy some little things (sorry I can't remember what they're called) that s***w onto the edge of the windows so they can't be raised. There are several ways to make sure the windows can't be opened from the outside, but that's the cheapest and easiest solution I've found for my type window.

Good luck and hopefully you don't have an intruder and will find a logical explanation for everything that's happened.

  2. Police departments will also do drive by's and security checks if you call them.  There was one weekend I came home to find footprints along the perimeter of my house.  There was about 4 inches of snow outside so there were obvious footprints.  They proved that someone had tried to get into my house.  I called the cops that Saturday and requested that when an officer had an opportunity that I needed to speak with someone at my house.  Let them know it wasn't an emergency.

Within 2 hours, 2 officers showed up and I let them know about my concerns.  They looked out the windows, studied the footprints and my neighbor's house (where the tracks led), and filed a report.  This was the start of a paper trail in case I got burglarized, then they'd sort of see there was a suspicious history.

The other thing they offered was security checks and drive by's.  I would call the policy dept. on a non-emergency line and request a drive by.  I'd tell them when I was going out of town and when I'd be back.  I've not had any further problems since.  Just one idea among many.  I'd definitely be wanting to get a police report logged, just in case something happens.

  3. Take a day off of work. Go about your daily routine and leave the house just like you would on a normal day. Park in a parking lot nearby and walk [discreetly] back to your road. Don't go to your house but just stake out your house all day to see if anybody enters.

    =D

    Good luck!

  4. Motion lites by all the doors for when your gone at night makes most stay away. Have a lamp etc on the inside on a timer come on and off at different set times or rooms. Change times randomly/

Most web cams such as my logitech can be set up to record anything that moves in that area. Make sure you mute the sound before leaving the area of your computer.

Least of all is the old trick of placing a small piece of paper in your door jam at the bottom. If its laying on the floor when you come home someone had opened that door. Hope this helped??

  5. spy camera go check www.dealextreme.com

and look for spy camera they are really cheap

  6. Before you leave put a very lite dusting of flour by the door before you leave, not a lot just so you can se the foot print.
