How can i tell my vocal style?

what i mean is how can i tell if i am an alto or soprano or whatever

i am a girl of 15 years so how can i test out to see what i am?

  1. You are asking about vocal type rather than style. Style would be jazz, blues, rock, R&B, soul, etc.

    Vocal types are determined by range (how low and how high you can sing). Most teenage girls without formal vocal training fall into the alto category.

    If your range covers the two octaves between middle C and the C above the treble clef staff, then you are a soprano (the highest vocal type). If your range covers about two octaves between the G below middle C and the G that sits atop the treble clef staff, then you are an alto.

    After you study with a voice teacher, your vocal type may change. For example before I took voice lessons, I was a baritone. After a year of lessons, I was singing tenor.
