  1. "The dorsal fin of the female is short and rounded, while the male has a longer dorsal that comes to a point"

I also looked for infos how to s*x them, and found this link

  2. Please let us know what sort of Gourami you have, then we can try to answer your question....

  3. This is a little bit hard but Hope this helps.

Male Gouramis are fin nippers and will bother other fish in the tank. When two male gouramis are put in a tank together they will fight constantly. Female Gouramis don't bother other fish and usualy sit alone in the corner. With male gouramis they will leave certain species alone like danios, mollies, silver dollars, goldfish, and plecotimous catfish. They don't like fish with big fins like guppies and beta fish. They are also compatable with Tetras and [Rasbora]along with other small, fast fish.

  4. Chesire hit it good.  There is another factor to look at in addition to the dorsal fin.  Look at the body too.  Females tend to be significantly rounder in the mid section, mine tend to look like they swallowed a golf ball, and males will be very slim line or slender.

It helps to know what species of Gourami too as the things Ches and I said, do not apply to every species of Gourami, just a large number of them.
