  1. A friend of mine moved here from Missouri, we live in Illinois. You just need to call or contact the DMV in your city. You will need your vehicle title and registration and last but not least your insurance card (somtimes). It's not all that expensive,it cost him $147.00 or $174.00, plus he did not have to have an Illinois drivers license to do the transfer.

  2. i just moved from pa to NJ.  I had to first transfer my license.  for that i needed my pa license, my birth certificate, social security card, and proof of address, such as a utility bill or credit card bill.

then i had to transfer my title, get my new tags, and register it.  For that i needed my title, my new NJ drivers license, and proof of insurance.

make sure you call your insurance company to make sure they insure you in the new state.  if they don't, you'll have to get new insurance first.

All of this was done at the DMV, well its called the MVC here.  They just had different stations I had to go to.  It took about a half hour with minimal lines.

The cost differes by state.  It cost me around 28 for my new license and 150 to transfer the title, register it, and get my new tags.

p.s.  they gave me a paper that said i had to get my car inspected within the next 14 days.  Inspections are free in NJ, but i know in other states (like pa) they are not.  so you should keep that in mind too.
