  1. A DVD recorder is about the simplest option.

  2. If you go to snappy snaps they do each video transfered onto a DVD for around £20.

It comes out in really good quality as well!

I had my parents wedding video transfered as a christmas pressy one year.

  3. Buy video editing software if you want to edit clips. The editing software will probably include some sample clips to practice with.

Download your video from a digital video camera. (You may need to buy a card with the appropriate type of connection port before you can do this. Check the specifications for your camera and computer to see the kind of connection you need.)

Download your own video from an analog camcorder or from a videotape. You will need a video capture card to translate the analog video into a digital format and copy it onto your hard disk.

Now you can perform the capture. A software like adobe premier is great.

    OR

There are plenty of places willing to do the transfer for some price: try googling it.

  4. The easiest way to do it is with a combo DVD and video recorder, with which you can dub directly from video tape to DVD in the same machine. The draw back with this method is that you can't pause the video or the DVD without stopping the recording.

You can also do it by connecting up your video to any DVD recorder, of course (usually done via the AV2 SCART input).

I started off transferring my collection using a combo machine, but the DVD recorder in it only lasted about 6 months before it broke down.

I then bought a DVD recorder (with internal hard disk), which I connected to the video. I find that recording from video to DVD using this set up is far better, since it gives me much more control over editing the recordings.
