  1. learn to eggbeater. basically it is rotating your legs in opposite directions and skulling with your hands. try doing this in the shallow end first. if you can do it good in the shallow end you can do it in the deep end, it becomes much easier. if you want to get out high, try doing a breast stroke kick then before you sink begin to eggbeater again. it will take a little while to learn (15-30 min) but it makes it much easier. just remember, the more yiou practice the better you will become.

  2. treading water is just keeping yourself floating up by kicking your legs and moving your hands in circular motions when i kick my legs its like im stepping on something or walking and i stay up.

  3. you mean "tread" water right? if so then kinda move your arms SLOWLY in circles. and kinda kick your legs like you're riding a bike....but you have to do both of these things at the same time. ortherwise you'll sink like you do anyway! :]

    hope i helped.

  4. kick your legs lightly downwards and lightly push the water with your hands up lightly touching the water, the key to treading water is not to over work yourself, to tread with no hands just kick a little lightly but more often, you will bounce like a bouie

  5. tread, not trend

if you can do a flutter kick (the one with a crawl stroke), you get your body vertical and do a flutter kick, like you were trying to swim straight up out of the water.  Use hand strokes to keep yourself positioned.

  6. First learn to swim the breast-stroke well, and be able to cover, say 20 laps continuously at good speed. You would then have the adequate strength and stamina to do simple

    treading.

It is very difficult to explain swimming movements using words. The best approach is to Google "How to tread water videos" and watch the motions, with more clarity. The important thing to note is never to bring up your knees too much, like in a cycling fashion. Cheers and good luck!

  7. There are a number of ways to tread water. Basicly treading water is made up of two parts, the kick and sculling.

Sculling is just gently moving your hands back and forth in the water.

There are a quite a few kicks you can use to tread water with:

Flutter kick- simple but very tiering

Whip Kick- the problem is that you bob up and down

Egg beater kick- this is the kick water polo players and syncronized swimmers use. The downside to it is that it is rather dificult to learn (http://youtube.com/watch?v=AVCGUTRFc2o)

The Scissor kick- in my opinion this is the first treading kick you should learn as it is pretty simple, effective and not too tiering.

  8. First you should learn to float. It is much easier than trading water, both from a learning perspective and from a physical exertion perspective. After that, you can go to the deep end and practice treading water. It's like swimming upright.

  9. Swim in place... just keep moving your arms and legs back and forth , and it's 'tread' water not trend!

  10. All you need to do is move your legs like you are riding a bike and put your hands in the water palms face down and move them in a up-down direction. This is how I tread water. I am positive it will work. Hope this helped.
