How can i try to find small pieces of gold if i live near a creek?

well i was just wondering cus sometimes i go for walks through the canyon and down to the creek, and was wondering if there is places you might find little small pieces of gold and stuff? does the water have to be running, or could it be dry? in the creek. and how do i look for it?

    But a word of caution check with  your local fish and wild life office first to see what the rules are. The environmentalists have made a mess of panning for gold. No sense getting in trouble.

  2. get a shovel dig up some dirt and get a pan a sifting pan and put water plus some dirt in it the shake it and the gold should form twords the bottom and the sides of the pan

  3. You could try panning, if you're in a gold rich area. As for me, I'm too lazy for that, I use a metal detector.
