How can i update my ipod touch so it has all these functions??

hey. I have an ipod touch that bought and now when i went to the apple store, i saw that the ipod touch there was had more functions. like google maps, weather, stocks, mail and more while my ipod touch just has music, videos, photos, itunes, safari, youtube, contacts, calendar, clock, calculator, settings. How do i upgrade my ipod touch to have all the new cool functions??

  1. Open up iTunes, open up the music store, and then click on "App Store" on the left in the iTunes Store list (under music, movies, podcasts, etc.).

    You'll be prompted to update to iPod Touch 2.0. It costs $10 (or the equivalent in your local currency). If you choose to pay for it, it will SEEM LIKE IT DID NOT DOWNLOAD. But hang on.

    After you accept the purchase and agree to buy it, plug your iPod in. Make sure you're ready to erase everything on it. When you are, click "Update". iTunes will then find that you can update the iPod to 2.0. Click ok to update. NOW iTunes will download the 2.0 software and begin the update process.

    Once it's done, you'll have Weather, Google Maps, Notes, Stocks, Mail, and the App Store. And the ability to add any of the hundreds of programs in the App Store (many free).
