  1. There is an Automatic Update in your Start menu, or you can go directly to Microsoft's website.

  2. Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools->Windows Update. Follow the prompts and it will show you what updates you need. You then just select the ones you want and it will download and install them for you.

  3. go to the microsoft web site and click on "security & updates" on the right hand side or click on - tools ,  microsoft update on your internet toolbar

  4. It will update automatically, but it will ask you if you want to restart now or do it later.

  5. Go to your start menu, click settings, control panel, Windows Security center, Automatic updates, select automatic (recommended)  and then select what day or everyday, then the time when you want the updates to happen, then click ok and your done.

  6. the best way is with a manuel update rather then download automatically. With xp there is a link from the start up. The windows icon and all programs then click on the update. You will have to be on line to do this and will have to go here a few times. Once here you will download one to three files and have restart the computer and of course do it again. There it will search your computer and see what files you have and some MS software. THe problem you have know is what of the options do you want to install.

  7. start - help & support - windows update.
