  1. Hello.

1.- The easiest: you can add it to a "quesadilla"; in one tortilla (corn or wheat meal is okay), you put cheese (mozarella or chedar if you don't have oaxaca o asadero cheese) in the middle and the orange part of the flower, put the "quesadilla" over the grill (I don't know how to say "comal", wich is over the grill actually), when the tortilla is soft you can ¿bend? it (jesus!, my english is bad! ...how do you say "doblar"? is it to bend?); once the cheese is fondue, the "quesadilla con flor de calabaza" is ready.

2.- You can make a pumpkin flower soup (crema de flor de calabaza), just as you make any other soup like champignon soup, using condesed milk, but you add pumpkin flowers instead of champignons. The flower can be either cooked (steam cooked) or fresh, as you prefer.

3.- As soon as I improve my english, I'll let you know some other recipes.

  2. Maty got it right...  <reading while mouth waters>

I personally love the quesadillas but the soup sounds great.

I have included the link to the recipe.

    Good luck!

  3. You can use it in a soup (Puebla style), you just have to drain the flowers, and add them to boiling chicken broth, along with frozen corn, poblano chile strips and zuccini, cut into small squares. You can also add some cheese right before serving.

Another option is to use it in quesadillas, you have to drain the flowers and stir fry them with a little diced onion and fresh jalapeños, then fill up your tortillas with cheese and the flowers and put them on a pan on direct heat for the cheese to melt.

  4. OK, I have a great recipe for this. I like it and its' simple.

    1. Make your usual green sauce (salsa verde) on the side.

    2. Fry the flowers. Use a little oil and make sure that you take off the little hairs they have on the stems, and the green stems around the flower.

    3. Put a little oil into another pan, put the salsa verde in the pan and sautee it. Once the sauce is cooked, add your fried flowers. You can put slice potatoes in it too. I usually just serve it with good ole' mexican black beans.

    4. Let the flowers and sauce cook for at least 35 to 40 minutes.

Just in case you need a salsa verde recipe:

    1.  Boil 12 green tomatoes and 2 or 3 chiles.

    2.  Put boiled tomatoes and chiles in a blender with a clove of garlic and a slice of onion. Blend, and then sautee the sauce with a little bit of oil before adding the flowers.

If you don't like it spicy, you can put just one or two chiles.

    Buen Provecho!

OK, now that I just wrote all that, I saw that you bought it from a can...lol. I guess I'm just used to using fresh ones. So, just add the flowers to the green sauce...lol!

  5. try to visit the plants fair or plant shops

    perhaps you´ll find it cheaper
