  1. Never look directly (or even slightly to the side) at the Sun.

Observations of the Eclipse are usually done with a

telescope of some kind whose eyepiece is directed

onto a white sheet of paper or white cardboard. Do not

ever look through the telescope to aim it at the Sun.

  2. DARKLY TENTED SUN GLASSES!!!!! :D

  3. Either get a welder's helmet to look at it, or make a pinhole camera.

  4. The really easy way to view the eclipse is to get an expert to help you.  They'll have the stuff, and can tell you exactly what you need and when.

Check out a local astronomy club.

  6. Hello!!

We people are very curious during eclipses right? Use a negative. It prevents you from getting blind while viewing an eclipse.  (Negative- one used in old photos)

    :-)

  7. Totality can be viewed directly with the eye safely, even telescopically, but beware of the onset of third contact (when the photosphere reappears)!

Partial phases can be viewed by projection or thru a filter.

Projection can be done with something as simple and last minute as a pinhole in one sheet of paper and a blank white paper to use as a screen. The projected image is easier to see in the shade, so you can put the pinhole and screen at two ends of the inside of a box.

Projection is better if done with a telescope or binoculars. Again, just use a blank white screen. The eyepiece projects the image nicely. Keep eyes away!!!! Looking thru binocs or telescope even at the partially eclipsed sun can cause irreversible eye damage.

Filters may be used with either naked eye or telescope, however, be sure they are approved and safe for that purpose. Do not use the type of filter that screws into an eyepiece - these are unsafe, as they may crack due to the heat.
