There is no slingbox application for the iPhone currently.  At this point an time, you're going to have to download TV shows one way or the other, and transfer them to your iPhone.  A new version of the iPhone firmware is coming out in June, which will allow developers to make programs for the iPhone, only then can you download and install an application (such as slingbox, if they make) to watch streaming TV you have on your DVR.  The iPhone does work with quicktime, so if you found a way to host quicktime files online, you could technically watch TV shows streaming online.  Otherwise, either buy TV shows through iTunes, or get them to your computer is some other way, and then into iTunes.
