How can i work in a refugee camp next year?

I'm taking my gap year next year and i would like to volunteer in a refugee camp in Africa, does anyone know the best way to achieve this?

My friends just got back from Cambodia.  THey went first and asked who needed and wanted them; then went back.  They asked what was needed and everyone told them "batteries" even tho their main goal was to feed people.
