  1. Show that you are a good person. Show that you are responsible. When she comes into your room, show her that you are researching about cockatiels and tell her how good they are. When you talk, talk only about cockatiels. Make a poster about them and hang it in your mothers room. Tell her that you like birds because ...

    Hope you get one

PS: Maybe you should start earning money for doing chores so then you can pay for it. Then your mum will think that you deserve it and you will be able to get one. Also, you should start being helpful and clean up your room and stuff.

  2. Show her that you are responsible with all the pets.

  3. It's true that earning is better than begging. When I was 17 all I owned was a budgie (parakeet), I also volunteered my time at an exotic bird shelter. Now, I wanted another bird, but me and my mom knew that we could not keep another bird in this time of our life. I needed to go to college soon, and once I did I would not have the time to care for another bird, my mom did not want to care for yet another animal either. So I came up with the idea of fostering an animal (taking care of one before it finds a real home), this idea sounded okay to my mom, but it wasn't good enough yet. She ended up bringing my low grades into question. So, in the end, we decided that If I could care for my life(grades), I could then (earn the privilage) to care for another bird. In the end, I ended up fostering an Alexandrine Parakeet.

What bargain could you strike up with your parents? You could try fostering too, so that you don't have to keep the bird, just look after it. Or, if  you think you'll get too attached to the bird, you could adopt. Chances are that you won't keep that cockatiel for the 20 years it will live. It will probably need another home in it's life time, that's just a fact of life(that I learned at the shelter).

In the end, you need to think it through with a plan. How do you earn the bird? Where will you get the bird from?(chanting: shelter!shelter!) And how much will it cost to care for the animal in a year? Think it through, do online reasearch and good luck!

  4. begging good. earning it is better

  5. Go out of your way to help her, do chores around the house and stuff. DONT NAGG! I have learned the more you nagg the less likely you are to get it. But you could talk to her, sit her down and say somthing like I think i really would like to own a pet, i am responsible and will look after it.

    Good Luck!
