  1. you need the city he is living in or ever a city he has ever been living in. Then the embassy or the Einwohnermeldeamt can help ya. good luck

  2. Do you have a name? Did you try to google him?

Try googling a name and city. It very may well come up with an address and at this point you can write him.

    Good luck!

  3. it would be helpful to have his name, the date of birth and the town he was living! Then you can ask at the 'Einwohnermeldeamt' (registration of address office) if he's still living there or if and where he moved. There's a fee to pay for this information but it's not much. Ur uncle has to be registrated in the town he is living so they probably could help you...perhaps he already got a phone now and so you could try the phonebook too!

  4. call a relative who lives Germany who knows your uncle...

  5. i could offer you could get in contact with me (go on my profile, there you can email me) and give me the information you have (name, village or area where he lives etc.) and i could try to find something out...

  6. It is a long shot, but apart from contacting the Einwohnermeldeamt in the town he lived in you can also try the German embassy. They are in a better position than you to figure this out. They will do the same, ie contact the Einwohnermeldeamt of the place where he lived, but if he moved away (maybe into a nursing home) and died there it will be faster and easier for them (as a federal agency) to figure it out.

It would also save you the hassle of trying to communicate with the local German authorities - at the embassy they will understand English, guaranteed.

They'll need the name, the exact birthdate, and last known adress. Having the place of birth also helps.

  7. Don't you have a phone number or address?

Isn't there any other relative whom you might ask living in Germany or elsewhere?

You also might try to find your uncle via the phonebook.

If you have the address go to www.telefonbuch.de and give in name and address.

    Good luck.
