  1. Hi George

The reason why you are having problem is because you lack imagination, creativity or not open-minded enough to listen to other types of music.

That is the only thing that can stop you from writing music. You can't stick to the same style all the time. Listen to other types ofmusic and eventually, you will hear a chord pattern which you could incorporate to one of your composition.

That is how it is done.

  2. OUCH. That's the hardest question to answer...

haha, If people had a formula for writing songs, there wouldn't be much point in music would there? No, well, when I'm writing, I usually just mess around on the guitar, following scales and tunes. I also play around on songs I know and lift tunes from them. Pretty soon, the tunes change and you add on your own extras. Soon enough, you've got a whole riff to work off of. Now, once you have a decent riff, you should just follow the pattern and see what sounds nice. It's useful if you already know a lot of songs and scales, because that's what they're for! The patterns imprint themselves and you can mix and match em whenever you want. For example, I mixed part of the solo from Hitchin A Ride by Green Day and the Am Pentatonic Scale to get a really awesome riff I never knew was possible before.

  3. its hard to sit down and come up with a good song. just jam out and mess around with new/old ideas until it starts to fall in place. you can force it.
