  1. Both food production and distribution are dependant on fossil fuel use. Commercial fertilisers and pesticides are by-products of the oil industry.

    The human population has increased exponentially in the last century, mainly due to scientific agriculture, mechanised production and distribution of food, fertilisers and pesticides.

    Without these, food production would fall to about one quarter its prevent level, causing mass starvation

  2. energy; need a lot more.

    water, food; yes, pollution (and land use change) reduces supply.

    also, city problems;

    rising urban population, so you need more of both.

    need water/sewage systems and transport to get them in and waste out.

  3. You can grow more food, so you can feed more people, and reduce the cost. You can drill for water (instead of relying only on rivers lakes and run off) you can pump more water, you can create a viable water recycling program (ie. water treatment plant) that will eliminate water born bacteria and diseases. You can treat sewage before it's transported or pumped away.  Industrialisation = technology = development.  So energy supplies, and efficiency can be increased.

  4. They can in time Contaminate the water supply making it unable to drink or take a bath.  Once sewage gets into the
