How can it be explained the similarities between different cultures?

Humans, as a species, have a large number or traits in common.  The basic need for shelter, food, producing & providing for the welfare of the next generation is universal. While the environment & methods of providing these change, they are constants.  

All cultures borrow from neighboring cultures when some method offers them an advantage & all cultures have those indivdules that look for better ways to achieve basic goals. Therefore, it is not unusual to have cultures with no contact with another develop a simular methodology to accomplish a task that improves some part of their lifestyle.

The ancients were far more mobile than we'd suspected in the past & one trader could easily introduce some new method or idea that was adopted by his culture or one he visited. Therefore, unless some aspect is nearly identical to another culture, it is likely it was an independent adjustment to solve an identical problem.
