  1. Because there's no such thing as "common good". It's a perception of "common good".

Common good comes from individual good and can't be promoted by law, no matter how hard you try.

When you're free to make the decisions for your life, you'll make the good decisions, the ones that bring good things to you. If you don't, you either change your ways or get extinct.

This way, all together create common good.

The trick here is that with freedom you have to work real hard for it while with the government you just have to abide by the law, the problems are going to be solved by the law. In a way, this system is supported by lazy people, even those who work to support it. It's easier not to face the problems, let someone else take care of it. Even if it doesn't work, even if it gets worse. As long as you don't have to carry the responsibility.

I can talk hours about how this doesn't work but if you take a look at the recent history of any socialist country, you'll see that it never worked. Problems get bigger and bigger and the government requires more laws, more regulations, more restrictions and more money to try again. It's insane.

Imagine you doing the same at your workplace. You fail, you ask more from your employer, you ask for a raise, you ask for everyone around you to work harder for you, you fail again, you ask more from your employer... How much do you think you'll last? How long socialism has been going on with this constant cycle of failures?

  2. By definition, man's participation in the common good is his freedom. So, it is impossible for a law to both be in accordance with the common good and infringe on one's freedom.
