Question:

How can my dad and I get the full Edinburgh Fringe experience for under £1000?

Basically, for the last two years my dad has taken me up to Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe. But my parents ran into some financial troubles last year and now we might not be able to go this year. My mum has said that me and my dad can go if we can do it for under £1000 (last year's trip cost around £1400).

I'm starting to think it may be impossible to get the full experience for under a grand but if anyone can give their tips on how to reduce the costs it would be greatly appreciated.

Seriously, if I don't go to the fringe I have literally **** all to do over the summer holidays...

  1. Fix your B & B well in advance, outskirts of Edinburgh.

Just buy fringe tickets as per availability, as and when

you are there, instead of buying in advance. Enjoy the

    free feebs.

  2. Yeah your best to stay on the outskirts of the town this is cheaper and I'd book soon as festival time in Edinburgh is hugely popular and very busy as you will know. remember most of these shows are free or £5.00. There's loads of street performers too.

  3. ok, www.travelsupermarket.com will help you sort out accomodation.  If you're pushed for cash stay in Livingston or Dunfermline and come in on the train every day - it's only a 10 minute ride.  There's also a load of free shows that are just as good as the ones you pay for.

these should help.  I'll see you there!

  4. I presume your main expense is accomodation. Try ringing round B&B's in the outskirts area of Edinburgh. Portobello, Musselburgh, places like that. Look them up on the web. You can get double rooms for about £30-£45 per night. There are loads of free or half price tickets available at the Fringe office on Waverley Mall.
