Hey all. this is totally random, i know. but i really need to help my friend. She has a pakistani passport which is kinda shite for someone who is a real traveller. She works for an duabi airline so gets to see the world but wants to settle down soon and doesn't want to return to pakistan where opportunities aren't so good. She's too honest to do the fake marriage scams that are so common and neither does she want to live off the government so no smart remarks please. some genuine advice would be much appreciated....

  1. You get a passpot by becoming a citizen of a country.  A lot of countries have clamped down on just random immigration in these days.  She would probably have to demonstrate some useful skills, and I'm not that sure that airline hostess would work.

But she needs to enquire at the nearest US/British (or perhaps Canadian or Australian) embassy, which can give her the information she needs.

  2. She cannot get a passport for any other country without becoming a resident there.  As a singer, I do not think she has much chance of getting a work permit for the US or Britain therefore she will not be able to get a different passport.

  3. you must be a citizen of a country to get their passport  so she will have to qualify for permanent residentsy of the UK then wait til she has lived there long enough to apply for citizenship it will take around 2-3 years....then she can get a passport

  4. Did she think of settling down in

    1)  Canada.

    2) Dubai (or UAE)

She works for a Dubai "based" airline, she can qualify for permanent residency in Dubai after a while. OR, she can apply for Canadian immigration that is not that difficult to get comparing UK or USA.

To obtain a passport one needs to be citizen of that country & that comes after immigration. Unfortunately USA & UK both dont offer open immigration unlike Canada.

  5. She needs to apply to emigrate to either UK or USA.  It may take years to be processed and she needs to show that she has a high enough level of education and that her english is fluent.

The only other way is through a fake marriage which she already knows is not the right thing to do.
