My friend wants to move into an apartment in San Diego, but doesn't have established credit, previous rental history, or a co-signer. He is 18 and his parents don't have the money to help him pay for anything. He works full time and has the money to pay for an apartment, but no one will let him rent on his own or even with a friend. How can he get on the right track to get an apartment or how can he get help to get one?

  1. He will have more luck with renting a room or with a weekly rental.

  2. get a roomate to pay half the rent best solution

  3. He's just going to have to keep looking until someone decides to give him a chance.  Landlords are weary of renting to young people because they have parties, destroy the apartment, don't pay rent, or skip out on their lease in the middle of the night.

If he can find a co-signer, that would help a lot.  Also offering a huge safety deposit would be a good idea.
