How can my husband adopt my kids in indiana?

i havent heard from my oldest daughters dad since she was 11months old, she is now six. what are the proceedings for my husband to adopt her in the state of indiana?

  1. please get copies of her original birth certificate.  after the adoption goes through, she will lose her rights to have one.

If you aren't recieving any childsupport from the birthfather and he hasn't made any form of contact for that long then you can apply for his rights to be taken away due to abandoment.  You will need to get a family attorney.  Papers will need to be filed and you will need to try to locate the father, usually this can be done by just an add in the paper for a short period of time.  If he makes no contact the courts will most likely take his rights away because of abandoment and then your husband can adopt your kids.  Usually the birthfather must sign off but they also have abandoment after a year because so many seem to just disapear.  My exhusband just lost his rights to 2 of his kids (with someone else) because he didn't contact them or pay support for 1 year while they were living with their grandmother so the courts let their grandmother adopt them.
