He was adopted as a baby, adoptive parents died when he was fairly young. All he knows are their names, no dates or places. He tried the sally army but no luck. Can anyone help, he really wants to find out about them.

  1. Birth parents and children who wish to contact each other can join an internet registry such as this one.

    http://registry.adoption.com/

  2. Same boat as him, apparently you can't unless the mother is also looking to find him.

    http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adopti...

See the Adopted Contact Register (which she also has to have registered on). There are numerous commercial registers as well.

edit: Not entirely. If he applies for a copy of his original birth certificate (also on that link) he will find their names. Then, it's a matter of telephone directories, Google, Facebook and old fashioned detective work...

  3. What country was this in? If the UK, does he know where his adoptive parents lived at the time? He could try Social Services there, although it may depend on how old he is. If the adoption happened before Social Services came into force, he may have to see if he can track down what adoption agencies were involved.

He could also go to a library providing access to Ancestry UK, but success there may depend on how common the names are.

  4. The registra office in the area he was born, as he got his birth certificate if not get one there

  5. With regard to your additional comment , no it is not true.

Both my husband and myself have found our birth mothers, and both in different ways. If you would like to click on my link in my avatar and email me I can tell you by email as to the various ways to go about this. It doesn't have to cost money either.

  6. Find out through what agency he was adopted from. I was adopted through Children's Home Society in VA - I was able to get non-identifying information and at the time, for a fee (around 400-500 bucks), I could request a search.

    Good Luck!
