Question:

How can one distinguish between the gases H2 and H2S?

i dont know what H2 is...but H2S is hydrogen Sulfide...please i need the answer now....thnx!

  1. H2 is colourless, and burns with a 'pop' sound.

    H2S smells like rotten eggs.

H2 is odorless, H2S has a strong rotten egg smell.   Hydrogen does not dissolve in water to any extent....Hydrogen sulfide will partially dissolve to form an acidic solution.  H2S bubbled into solutions of Pb+2 or other heavy metals will result in formation of brown to black insoluble sulfides...
