How can one obtain raw NASA footage?

Is there an Internet resource available to download said material (esp. Apollo missions)? If not, can it be purchased on DVD? Anyone have a link?

  1. "Raw" NASA footage is generally on media formats used in the 1960s and 1970s and is of little use to you.

    However, high-quality unabridged DVD transfers can be obtained at reasonable prices from Spacecraft Films.  Producer Mark Gray has selected the original elements in the best condition.


  2. You can get most Apollo related stuff over the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal (ALSJ) homepage.

    Additionally the new NASA imagine archive might be interesting.

  4. Nasa recently released 9000 pictures about their manned space program. You can find those here: http://images.jsc.nasa.gov/

    EDIT: though it seems nasa has some problems handling their traffic at the moment...
